Born, bred, and living in his beloved Rhondda Valleys of Wales, Phil is a man whose life story is marked by a ‘colourful past’ and a real testimony of transformation after being radically saved in February 1993.

In Old Testament Bible Heroes, Phil writes – Two days after I was saved, I was confessing to my pastor that there wasn't a single thing in my life that could be described as 'godly', and that virtually every aspect was illegitimate in some form or other, with some out-and-out illegal! He raised his eyebrows and said: "Jesus will take you just as you are; but He won't expect you to stay as you are". It was a profound truth that helped me understand that salvation isn't intended to be the end of anything; it's meant to be the beginning of everything!

As a rugby player, Phil should have achieved international honours but instead his playing days ended prematurely due to the threat of a life ban for violent conduct. Yet a few years later, coinciding with his becoming a Christian, Phil went on to enjoy a high-octane career in professional sport, holding some of the biggest off-field jobs in British Rugby.

He departed the rugby world in 2003 after being asked the question, “What would you try for God if you knew you wouldn’t fail?” His answer was Sporting Marvels and a mission statement to put a positive Christian role model in front of every Rhondda kid, every day, forever, until Jesus returns. Again, from Old Testament Heroes - “Sporting Marvels is our effort to fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, in our part of the world”, he says. As the founder and project director, the vision has burned brightly in his heart for nearly two-and-a-half decades, and today, he is more passionate and committed to the Sporting Marvels cause than ever!

Phil is a law graduate with a lawyer’s eye for unpicking the evidence which, as all his readers know, is such a key part of his writing style and unique perspective. He’s been a life-long student of military history and shortly after becoming a Christian, quickly developed a deep-seated fascination with both end times prophecy in general, and with Israel in particular.

He loves the study, research, and writing process and is constantly blown away not only by God’s goodness, patience, kindness, and love, but also by His attention to detail and meticulousness. In his newest title, The 7-Year Tribulation, he says: “God has literally dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't', with nothing left to chance. There’s no random in His plan; none at all. Everything is intentional; every 'duck' lined up with perfect precision; every 'domino' ready to fall in a divinely ordered sequence, according to His perfect timeline”.

Though he shuns the limelight of interviews, self-promotion, and social media (all out of choice) he is totally dedicated to what he calls “his readership family”, hoping and praying every day that what he does, what he writes, can bless and add value in some small way to those who support and encourage him so faithfully.
